Meet Dr. Michael Alunni, MD
Dr. Michael Alunni M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in Glaucoma and Cataract Surgery. He is a graduate of Penn State University in State College, PA and earned his Medical Degree in Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology and Fellowship in Glaucoma and Anterior Segment at Allegheny General with Dr. Garry Condon, Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology and Director of Glaucoma Services.
He is the recipient of multiple awards and accolades including the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award, which he received during his time as a Resident at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. This award proves his commitment to teaching and his exemplary care for patients, families, students and colleagues.
Dr. Alunni has held leadership positions including Health Director for Woodbury Day Camp in Central Valley, NY, and Counselor for the Philadelphia Area Day Camp Bridging the Gaps.
He is a licensed Emergency Medical Technician who is trained in first-line medical or emergency care. He is also affiliated in West Penn Allegheny Health System, UPMC St. Clair, Western PA Surgical Center-Wexford, and Gamma Surgery Center.
Dr. Alunni volunteers with Guerilla Eye Service helping patients in the Western Pennsylvania area to eliminating barriers to eye care. Dr. Alumni’s mission is to foster a strong doctor-patient partnership through compassion, listening, and providing state-of-the-art eye care.
